Infinity Chair - Not so boring

"Infinity Chair" iPhone photo: Rick Mercer
This is a close up of one of our conference room chairs. Seems like it would be a boring subject but the pattern is pretty interesting at this angle.

Abstract Tree Turd

This abstract was actually photographed with my iPhone a few months ago but this was the photo I took when I first came up with the idea of the "Single Moments" blog.  Unless someone corrects me here, I believe these are a seed pod from a honey locust tree.  Although they appear to be some type of tree turd, I thought it had a certain type of abstract beauty to it.  I was waiting for the bus and looked down and saw it sitting in the morning sun and took this snapshot.

Single Images in One Person's Life

This is the start of a blog of "single moments" or photographs in my life.

As an artist I view the world a bit differently than the average non-artist in that we [artists] tend to look at the world around us a lot more. We look at everything more closely than most people. We look at details, colors, textures, patterns and so much more than the average person on a  day-to-day basis.

The biggest example I can give is looking at the sky.  I'm generalizing here, but I'm willing to bet that artists look at the sky a lot more than most other people. Everyone sees the sky obviously but I'm talking about really looking at it, examining it, looking at all the nuances of colors, cloud patterns and then amazing daily beauty of it.  In the northeast here in the states, the fall produces some of the most amazing skies of all and I'm always floored by the vivid yellows, oranges, pinks and purples at this time of year.

So that is what this blog is about.  This blog will be an attempt for me to capture these "single moments" of my life in photos posted on this blog.  These will be single snapshots of tiny moments in my life that I notice, photograph and share here.

So the journey begins...
